One-time cleaning

Apartment cleaning on the Upper West Side, from $151 for a one-bedroom, built for the block you actually live on — a San Remo tower on Central Park West, a limestone pre-war on West End, a brownstone parlor floor, or a fourth-floor walk-up off Amsterdam. We clean around cast-iron radiators, restored herringbone and 11-foot ceilings the way each one needs, and we book online in a couple of minutes.

The housing stock, and what it means for cleaning

The UWS is one of the least uniform neighborhoods in the city, and the cleaning changes building to building. On Central Park West you have Emery Roth and Irwin Chanin co-ops — the San Remo, Beresford, Eldorado and the Dakota — with ceilings that run 10 to 13 feet in the Dakota and 10 to 11.5 in the Roth towers. Along West End and Riverside Drive, brick-and-limestone pre-wars from 1895 to 1935 carry original plaster with heavy cornices, deep window reveals, and wood-burning fireplaces. A stepladder is not optional here; at those heights you cannot dust a cornice, a picture rail, or the top of a tall casement from the floor. Roughly three-quarters of the city's apartment buildings are steam-heated, so cast-iron radiators under the windows are the norm, and cleaning behind and inside the covers is part of the job, not an extra. Herringbone floors on the UWS are usually restored in place rather than replaced — shellacked or waxed originals that need a damp mop, not a soaked one, and never a harsh stripper. Side-street brownstones are a different animal: a stoop up to an 11-foot parlor floor, marble mantels, pocket doors, and no elevator. The un-renovated baths in Amsterdam and Columbus tenements still have hex tile and cast-iron tubs, which we treat gently rather than scour. About 6,297 new units went up between 2010 and 2025, mostly the glass at Lincoln Square and Riverside Boulevard, where floor-to-ceiling windows and open sightlines mean smudges and dust show immediately.

Getting into your building

How we get in depends on which UWS you live in. In the CPW and West End co-ops there is a concierge, a service entrance separate from the front lobby, and often a freight elevator booked to fixed weekday windows — many buildings ban weekend moves and freight use, so we schedule to the building's calendar and pad the cab and floor. Boards here run a little softer than the Upper East Side, but they expect the same certificate of insurance: a COI naming the building as additional insured, typically $1M at baseline, with the co-op and managing agent listed, sometimes named board members too. Some boards require limits up to higher multiples; send us the requirements and we handle the paperwork, usually issued within 30 days. The key operational difference here is on the side streets and walk-ups: in a brownstone or an Amsterdam tenement there is often nobody at a desk to hand a key to, so we work with lockboxes, intercom codes, and clear entry instructions. For owners who travel, we set up secure key handling in advance so a trip out of town doesn't cancel your cleaning.

What we clean here

Every visit covers the standard checklist — kitchen, baths, floors, dusting, surfaces, trash — and then the UWS specifics on top:

  • Behind and inside cast-iron radiator covers under the windows
  • Cornices, picture rails and deep window reveals reached by stepladder
  • Shellacked or waxed herringbone, damp-mopped, never flooded
  • Hex tile and cast-iron tubs in original baths, cleaned without abrasives
  • Floor-to-ceiling glass in the Lincoln Square and Riverside Boulevard towers

In no-elevator brownstones and walk-ups we count stair flights as a pricing factor, since carrying equipment up several floors is real work — we'll tell you the number up front, no surprises.

Pricing

Apartment cleaning starts from $151 for a one-bedroom, $179 for two bedrooms, and $207 for three bedrooms. Sales tax at this address is 8.875%. Recurring plans — weekly, twice-monthly, or monthly — come with a discount off the one-time rate, which is how most regular clients on West End and CPW book. Walk-up flights and any extras are quoted before you confirm.

FAQ

Do I need to be home to let you in?

No. In doorman co-ops the concierge admits us to the service entrance; on the side streets we use a lockbox or intercom code you set up when you book, so you can be at work or out of town.

Will you handle the board's certificate of insurance?

Yes. Send us your managing agent's COI requirements and we issue a certificate naming the building as additional insured, usually within 30 days.

My apartment is a fourth-floor walk-up — does that change the price?

We count stair flights as a pricing factor because carrying gear up affects the visit. You'll see the flight count reflected in your quote before you confirm.

Can you clean original herringbone and marble without damaging them?

Yes. Restored herringbone gets a damp mop and no stripper; polished marble mantels and hex tile are cleaned with pH-appropriate products, never abrasives.

Do you clean the radiators?

Cleaning behind and inside cast-iron radiator covers is part of a standard visit here, not an add-on.

We also clean nearby on Morningside Heights, Lincoln Square, the Upper East Side across the park, and Riverside Drive. Book your Upper West Side cleaning online in a couple of minutes.
