Payment only after cleaning

CleanWhale cleans apartments, condos and whole houses across Staten Island, from the North Shore blocks near the ferry to the split-levels and Colonials out past the Expressway. Rates start at $151 for a one-bedroom, and because most of the borough is houses rather than elevator buildings, we quote the way the work actually lands here: by the whole home and by the drive between jobs. Book online in about two minutes and we will confirm your window.
Roughly 83% of Staten Island units sit in one-to-two-family houses, and it shows in every job. This is the one borough where the work physically resembles Nassau or Westchester rather than a Manhattan pre-war stack: detached and semi-detached homes, several full bathrooms, a finished or half-finished basement, a garage, a back deck. Homeownership runs about two-thirds, so most of our clients own the whole envelope we are cleaning, top to bottom.
That changes what a clean actually is. In an elevator building you clean one floor plate. Here you clean a first floor, a second floor, a basement rec room, and the stairs that tie them together — and those stairs matter to the price, because we count flights, not doorways. A raised ranch with a below-grade level and a full upstairs is a different job from a one-level ranch of the same room count, and we price it that way instead of pretending they are equal. Newer subdivisions bring engineered floors and quartz; the older North Shore Victorians and the Stapleton and West Brighton frame houses bring soft pine treads, shellacked herringbone, and the occasional tin ceiling that gets dusted with dry cloths, never wet.
Most of Staten Island is a house with its own front door, so access is usually a key, a lockbox code, or a garage keypad rather than a concierge and a freight elevator. If you travel — and a lot of the borough commutes off-island for the week — we handle keys the careful way: logged in and out against your job, held in a tagged lockbox rather than a loose drawer, never marked with your address. Tell us whether the crew comes in the front or through the side or garage door, and where the alarm panel lives.
A minority of newer North Shore mid-rises and waterfront condos do run like city buildings, with a managing agent, a service entrance, and a certificate of insurance on file before anyone works. We carry the standard $1M COI naming the building as additional insured, and some boards ask for higher limits — certs generally issue within about 30 days, so give us the managing agent's requirements when you book and we start the paperwork early rather than at your door.
Every visit covers the shared checklist — kitchen surfaces and exterior of appliances, full bathroom scrub, dusting, floors vacuumed and washed, trash out, beds made on request. On top of that, the Staten Island specifics we plan for:
Apartment cleaning starts at $151 for a one-bedroom, $179 for two bedrooms, and $207 for three bedrooms. Sales tax at the job address on Staten Island is 8.875%. For a whole house, the two real cost drivers are levels and bathrooms, not just bedroom count, so a larger multi-level home is quoted by area or by the hour — tell us the layout when you book and you get a flat number before we arrive. Recurring plans carry a standing discount: weekly, twice-monthly and monthly visits all come off the one-time rate, and because the borough is car-dependent, the cheapest visit of all is one we slot back-to-back with a neighbor on the same street — ask about a shared route window.
A finished basement is priced as living space and folded into the quote. An unfinished basement or garage is optional — we scope it with you rather than assume it.
Because we count levels, bathrooms and stair flights, not just bedrooms. Two floors plus a basement is more surface and more stairs than a single-level unit of the same room count.
Yes. We take a lockbox code or a logged key, note your alarm and entry door, and send confirmation when we finish. Keys are tracked to your job and never tagged with your address.
Only if you are in one of the North Shore condo or co-op buildings that require it. Give us the managing agent's limits when you book — some boards ask above the $1M baseline — and we file the COI ahead of time.
Yes, and on Staten Island it genuinely pays off. Two or more homes on one street in a single window cut our drive time, and we pass that back as a route discount.
We clean across St. George, Stapleton, West Brighton, New Brighton, Tottenville, Great Kills, New Dorp, Todt Hill and the rest of the borough, and we cross the bridge for Bayonne too. Pick your date, tell us the layout, and book online — recurring clients get the best standing rate.
